Get NZ Writing

We have been taking part in the Get NZ Writing challenge. We created this poster out of postcards. On the back we wrote metaphors about ourselves. We also created a visual poem as a class.

We have sent them off to our partner school: Patea Area School and are looking forward to receiving a parcel from them.
What was the metaphor you wrote on the back of your postcard? Post as a comment to share.

Vilah wrote this wonderful poem using metaphors about herself, based on the Iain Sharpe poem.

Vilah
Vilah is a calculator, whizzing through maths time. If you have a question, you know who to ask.
Vilah is a musical instrument, singing loudly in solitude, but as soon as there are more people, music is pianissimo.
Vilah is a paint brush, making money as well as paintings - painting is a privilege if you have her in your hand.
Whenever I cross the street, Vilah is there on the other side waiting for me - it creeps me out.
Vilah is a trophy. Vilah is a netball.
Vilah is a tree, growing higher and higher with knowledge everyday.

Mid-autumn is here! Orange, red, yellow leaves are falling, I run around chasing them. They might be Vilah.
