Week 6 Update

Wow! What an magnificent week we had last week showcasing our talents in the school production. Dedication and determination resulted in magnificent performances in a magnificent show. We were all so proud.
Thank you so much to those parents who supported us so willingly - you also are magnificent! We really couldn't do it without you.
Tall Poppies Cross Country
This Thursday (8th June), all Tall Poppies will be competing in the cluster cross country event at Whakamarama School. (Postponement date is Friday 9th)
Remember to wear red Tauriko shirts and black shorts. The course is on a farm so suitable footwear must be worn. You are advised to bring warm clothes to get changed into after you have run as it can get extremely chilly ‘in the hills’ and a change of footwear is also recommended, as they may get wet feet when running. You will also need to take a substantial morning tea, lunch and a large cold drink. Refreshments can be purchased on the day: soup, drinks and some food will be available.

EPro8 Competition
Permission slips are due in now please. The competition takes place next week. Please see permission slips for details.
Gym Sports
This Friday, 9th June, the Tall Poppy gymnasts will be competing at ARGOS in the gym sports competitions. The competition starts at 11:20am so all gymnasts will need to be there by 10:45am.

Rube Goldberg Machines
This Friday the Tall Poppies will start working on a Young Innovators Challenge. We will be making Rube Goldberg machines. We need plenty of recycled materials to use for these. If you have access to any of the following, please bring along to school asap.
We need:
* bendy wire, string, rubber bands, fishing line
* piping/tubing - different sizes: plastic or anything that can be easily cut, rigid or bendy
* wooden offcuts - preferably with grooves, not too think or wide. max 5cm x 2cm and up to 50cm long or short solid blocks to use as weights
* marbles, fishing weights, small balls
* fishing reels, dials, windmills
* levers, hinges
* screws, eyelet hooks
